"Zachary" means just that. Sixteen years ago today, I was getting ready for bed and felt a restlessness... I was 37 weeks pregnant with my first child and I wasn't experiencing labor pains, just felt really uneasy. It was a snowy night in the mountains of NC, and we had an hour drive to our little hospital, but Greg listened to me and took me to a nearby hospital to check if I was, indeed, in labor. We went to hospital #1, where they put me on some monitors and told me I should probably head over to our hospital. It was almost midnight, the roads were snow and ice-covered, and we were about to have our first baby!
We arrived at our little mountain hospital to the news that my blood pressure was sky-high and I was exhibiting signs of pre-eclampsia. The next 24 hours were tension filled, progressing to platelet transfusions and debates of whether to transfer me to a bigger hospital. The roads were too bad, not even helicopter accessible, so I stayed put. The night of the 12th, Zachary entered into the world via c-section. They medicated me heavily for the next several days, but I have a few memories of his entry to this planet.
This picture is the first time I held him. I look rough, but it's a testimony of the fact that my God takes care of me and remember His promises to me.
It was a cold snowy night and God was good. He is still looking after us all. I'm am truly grateful! Zack was a beautiful baby and a handsomne young man today.
Happy Birthday, Zack!!!

Even though I haven't seen my cousins in FOREVER, I'm glad everything worked out that night too! Wow, sixteen!

How well I remember. I went back home to FL, and when I got there, you went to the hospital. You did look rough, but I remember you looking good in a matter of weeks! Zack is terrific (but I'm slightly prejudiced! Have a great 16th b-day celebration with that boy.
