King's Kids Nicaragua

One thing that Zack has gotten involved in is called King's Kids.  This is a ministry of YWAM (Youth with a Mission).  Nationals and missionary kids get together one weekend per month to go to different places in Nicaragua and do a dance and drama presentation. They have performed in city parks, churches, hospitals, and concerts.  They use hip fun music and do some hip-hop dance moves.  Usually a kid will share a testimony of what God is doing in their lives.  Zack has absolutely loved getting involved in this ministry. Next year Max will be joining King's Kids as well. It is great fun, and a good opportunity to reach out to youth in Nicaragua. (Zack is the short one in the yellow shirt.  He's a bit younger than the other kids in this picture.)

La Purisima

The town is abuzz with the festival of La Purisima.  Statues of the virgin Mary are set up inside and outside of homes.  People come to sit in front of the statue and sing songs to it, then they are rewarded with candies or little gifts.  The actual day of the festival is the 7th, when fireworks are lit up at 4 am to awaken the town to go to church and pay homage to the virgin.  This particular picture is from our neighbor's home last week.  They had speakers blasting loud music until the late hours of the night.

Graduation!

The school year is finished, and we celebrated the sixth grade graduation last night with a very nice ceremony.  All the kids passed, though some by the skin of their teeth!  Now they are high schoolers. This includes our almost twelve year old, Zack.  Thanks to a gift from our church we were able to buy them each their own bible. Many of these kids didnt even have a bible in their homes.  Now they have their very own!  They were thrilled with their gifts.  It was our pleasure to give it to them.
