Becca and Kessaya are perplexed. You can see it on their faces but you can't hear the tune they're humming. It's a sad melody from the song "Where have all the cowboys gone?"; Paula Cole's 1997 hit about the seeming disappearance of good men, but, in their useage, the question being asked is: why aren't there more guys on the overseas missions field? Ok, I'll be honest. The purpose of this post is to pose the question rather than seek to answer it. While we don't have specific figures of male/female ratios serving on the missions field, our experience and nearly every other missionary we've talked to (all over the world, not just in Latin America) indicate that there are many more females serving than males. I am of course not advocating the Mormon approach of sending all college-age Christian guys on a 2-year overseas stint. I am advocating, however, that Christian men seriously pray and ask God if they have a missions calling. Don't misunderstand me: I'm NOT saying that these wonderful women so faithfully serving overseas are somehow not doing a sufficient job and are therefore in need of male help. No, quite frankly they are doing fine. Smashingly fine. Only they sometimes are perplexed and, for a moment, the tune above can be heard - just a faint hum - and then these sisters go back about their business. Yet the question lingers...where have all the cowboys gone?
Well the girls are now safely back in San Jose, Costa Rica. They have lots to process from their trip (misadventure!) in Nicaragua and we're looking forward to hearing their thoughts.

I cant thank you enough for all your help with our situation. We were soo blessed to be with you guys in the midst of a crisis. I dont know what we would have done.
