3:00pm we were getting ready to go to Eskimo for a little ice cream and the house started shaking & rocking. We went outside because it seemed rather strong. Every person in near proximity was running out of their homes and businesses to get out into the street. The thing just went on and on and on. We were feeling dizzy, nauseous, motion sick. Jackson began to cry. When it was over we went about our business of getting ice cream. News reports say it was a 6.3 on the Richter Scale... not a small quake. They went from calling it "temblores" to a "terremoto", so a real live authentic earthquake. Now Jackson is afraid to go to sleep. We have assured them we will wake them up to go outside if we have a repeat during the night (which often happens, a repeat that is).
As a footnote, the Institure for Research in Seismology, says the quake was actually 6.9. The quake that killed 50,000 people in Iran last year was a 6.3!
wow, I hope everyone is well. I always think of my family of course, but I am praying for all of you there. Be careful and be prepared.
