This morning the water came on at 4 am. Greg went into the kitchen to put water in the barrell and in the pots and found the door wide open with the keys and the lock on the counter. He called me to come up front and see if we had been robbed. (We have a family staying with us for the week, so our first thought was that he had gone outside to pray.)
Sure enough, someone had cut the bars on one of our front windows and broken in, then left through the kitchen door. These people spent a substantial amount of time in our home, even entering the kid's room and stealing all of our six year old's clothing and our eleven year old's shoes.
Our ten year old awoke to a man in his room taking our CD player, and the man told him to go back to sleep. Max thought it was a guy from church maybe borrowing it, and wasn't awake enough to realize he didn't know the guy (until later).
It was an awful, horrific morning, with police, police dogs, neighbors, and onlookers coming by to see the situation. The boys are angry, we are frustrated and furious.
It truly is a miracle that neither Greg nor the Nicaraguan man staying with us heard anything. God protected us so much. We can only imagine what could have happened had the dog heard them or the men awakened.
So now, the search is on... and we await what God wants to teach us and has for us. We know that He is faithful ALWAYS, and we know that He will continue to show us His favor and mercy.
Protect your friends, Lord! Thanks for protecting them last night - keep them safe in this time of uneasiness!

I'm so sorry. It happens to my parents at least twice a year. That's too bad. Spend the $ and get 'alambre the pua' or the next thing up to be safe. They were probably teenagers on drugs.
