This is a mototaxi, something that many Masatepinos use to get around town. Usually we pay around .25 to get to school in one if we don't take our car. The other day, one of the teachers and her three kids were going to visit her mom. They were going down a severe grade to the laguna when the taxi lost its brakes. The taxi tumbled end over end over end, throwing all the passengers out of the taxi. It is truly a miracle that they all survived! The taxi is now parked in front of the police station, just a crumpled piece of metal.
Professor Flor de Maria and her kids Sarahi (11), Atalia(5) , and Eliseo (6.5) are all going to be fine. Sarahi has a concussion and stitches in her head and her legs are pretty messed up. Flor's legs are full of road rash. Atalia has stitches in her knee and is banged up pretty badly as well. The only one who survived without a scratch is Eliseo, though I am sure he won't be riding in a mototaxi for a while!
